FullSizeChevy.com is starting over. Not a migration, not a restore — a clean build on new software.
The straight version: the old forum’s database, posts, and accounts are gone, and so are the backups. There was nothing to bring forward. I’d rather tell you that plainly than let people wonder where their post count went.
But here’s the part that matters more.
The old archive was already gutted, and it happened years ago. When Photobucket started charging for third-party image hosting in 2017, embedded photos broke across every forum on the internet — ours included. The text survived. The pictures didn’t.
If you’ve ever found a ten-year-old thread that was exactly your problem — right year, right symptom, right guy who actually figured it out — and scrolled down into a wall of gray broken-image icons where the photos used to be, you know what that was worth. A wiring writeup with no photos is close to useless. So a big chunk of what we “lost” hadn’t been readable for a long while.
What’s different this time
Photos live here. Images are hosted on FSC’s own hosting, not on a third-party service that can change its terms and break twenty years of threads overnight. That was the single biggest failure point of the old site, and it’s fixed.
The site runs automatic backups. What gets posted here stays here.
It’s built to be found. Modern forum software, era-based sections from Squarebody through T1XX, real search, and it works properly on a phone. The knowledge stays organized instead of scrolling off the bottom of a feed.
What we need from you
Everyone starts fresh — if you had an account on the old site, you’ll need to create a new one. Handles are first-come, so grab yours.
Then do the thing that actually builds this place: start a build thread. Post the truck. And if you wrote a good writeup that died with the old forum, or you’ve got one buried in a Facebook group where nobody will ever find it again, post it here. With the photos.
That’s how we get an archive worth having in ten years.
