Want to go bigger than stock tires on your 2007–2013 Silverado or Sierra 1500? Here’s the definitive guide on what fits with different lift configurations and how to avoid rubbing.
Stock Tire Sizes (Factory):
- 17" wheels: 245/65R17 (most common)
- 18" wheels: 265/65R18 (on higher trims)
- 20" wheels: 275/55R20 (LTZ/SLT/Denali)
With a 2" Leveling Kit (No Lift):
A front spacer leveling kit provides more clearance for the front tires.
- 17" wheels: 285/70R17 fits without rubbing (most builds)
- 18" wheels: 285/65R18 fits cleanly
- 20" wheels: 295/60R20 or 305/55R20
Full-turn clearance: Minor trimming of the front bumper end-cap foam may be needed at full lock with 285s or wider.
With a 4" Lift Kit:
- 17" wheels: 33x12.50R17 or 315/70R17 fits without cutting
- 18" wheels: 33x12.50R18 (same)
- 20" wheels: 305/55R20 or 33x12.50R20
With a 6" Lift Kit:
- 35x12.50R17 or 35x12.50R20 fits without rubbing
- Some 37" tires fit but require trimming and sometimes fender mods
Wheel Offset Matters:
Running a positive offset wheel (more backspacing) can cause the inside of the tire to rub the UCA or inner fender. For lifted builds with wider tires, look for wheels with 0 to -12mm offset.
Speedometer Correction:
Any time you significantly change tire diameter from stock, your speedometer will read slightly off. A tune or programmer can correct this.
