Adding or upgrading the trailer hitch on your 2019–2026 Silverado/Sierra 1500 T1XX is a straightforward process. Here’s what you need.
Factory Hitch:
Most T1XX 1500s come with a factory 2-inch receiver hitch. If your truck didn’t come with one (some trims), or if you need to upgrade, here’s the best option.
Recommended Hitch:
Draw-Tite 41553 Class IV 2" Receiver Hitch – Compatible with Silverado/Sierra 1500 2019–2026 – Class IV rated for up to 10,000 lbs gross towing and 1,000 lbs tongue weight. Direct fit, no drilling required.
Why Class IV?
Class IV provides maximum flexibility with a 2-inch receiver. This lets you run a wide variety of ball mounts, weight distribution hitches, bike racks, and cargo carriers.
Installation:
- No welding required
- Bolts to existing frame-mounted hitch holes
- Time: 30–45 minutes with basic tools
- Tools needed: Ratchet, extensions, torque wrench
7-Pin Wiring:
If adding a hitch, also add the trailer wiring:
- The T1XX has a factory 7-pin connector location
- A factory-style wiring harness plugs into the truck’s existing connector
Ball Mount Selection:
The ball mount you need depends on trailer coupler height vs. truck hitch height. Measure before purchasing to ensure level trailer towing.
Anti-Rattle Inserts:
A 2" anti-rattle hitch insert eliminates the clunking sound from a loose ball mount in the receiver.
