The 2014–2018 K2XX Sierra/Silverado is a popular lift platform. Going 6 inches opens up room for 35–37" tires. Here’s how to do it right.
K2XX Suspension Overview:
The K2XX 1500 uses strut-based IFS up front with torsion key removal on 4WD models. It’s similar in design to the GMT900 platform.
6" Lift Components:
- Front: 3.5"–4" strut spacer + extended upper control arms
- Rear: 3" add-a-leaf or 4" block + U-bolts
Upper Control Arms (Mandatory at 6"):
Aftermarket UCAs (Cognito, Tuff Country, McGaughy’s) reposition the upper ball joint to maintain proper CV angle and alignment geometry.
3.5/3 inch Lift Kit:
3.5" Front + 3" Rear Lift Kit for 2007–2018 Silverado/Sierra 1500 – A good starting point for most builds.
Tire Fitment at 6":
- 33" (285/70R17): Fits without modification
- 35" (315/70R17 or 35x12.50R17): Fits with minor trimming
- 37": Requires fender mods
Wheel Offset:
For 35" tires, look for wheels with 0 to -12mm offset to avoid rubbing on the UCAs.
Alignment:
After a 6" lift with UCAs, a proper 4-wheel alignment is essential. The UCAs have adjustment for caster. Budget $150 for a quality lift alignment.
Shocks:
Factory shocks won’t work at 6". Use Bilstein 5100 or Fox shocks specifically rated for your lift height.
