Want to run 35" tires on your 2007–2013 Sierra or Silverado? A properly selected 4-inch lift kit is the way to go. Here’s how to do it without rubbing or handling issues.
Lift Kit Types for the GMT900:
Leveling-Only (up to 3.5" front):
Strut spacer kits up to 3.5" front can be combined with a small rear block for a leveled stance. Works for up to 33" tires in most cases.
Full Suspension Lift (3.5–6"):
True lift kits use upper control arms (UCAs), new strut assemblies, and rear blocks or leaf add-a-leafs. Required for 35" tires and proper CV axle geometry.
Top Pick for 4" Lift:
3.5" Front + 3" Rear Full Leveling Lift Kit – Compatible with 2007–2018 Silverado/Sierra 1500 – Includes front strut spacers, rear blocks/extensions, and all necessary hardware.
Tire Fitment with 4" Lift:
- 33" (285/70/17): No rubbing, no trim needed
- 35" (315/70/17 or 35x12.50/17): May require minor trimming of front inner fender at full lock
- 37": Requires extended UCAs and potentially more suspension work
CV Angle Concerns:
The GMT900 uses an IFS (independent front suspension) with CV axles. A front lift over 3.5" begins to stress the CV joints and change axle angle. For lifts over 4", use aftermarket upper control arms (UCAs) to maintain proper geometry.
Alignment After Lift:
A full alignment (4-wheel) is essential after lifting. Budget $100–$150. Make sure the shop uses caster corrections if needed.
Rear Setup:
For a balanced 4" lift, use 3" rear blocks or a 2" block with add-a-leaf on the rear springs. Heavy towers should consider an add-a-leaf over blocks for load support.
Recommended Shocks:
After lifting, factory shocks will be extended beyond their travel range. Upgrade to adjustable shocks (Bilstein 5100 or Fox 2.0) set for the lift height.
