Installing an Apple CarPlay head unit in a Silverado is a popular upgrade. Here’s what you need and how the process works.

What You’ll Need:

  1. Double DIN Head Unit with CarPlay – The Kissound 7" Double DIN is a popular budget option with wireless CarPlay
  2. Dash kit – Vehicle-specific from Metra (Metra 99-3000T for most Silverados)
  3. Wiring harness adapter – Converts GM connector to aftermarket standard (Metra 70-2003 series)
  4. Antenna adapter – For FM reception (Metra 40-GM10)
  5. Optional: Backup camera – The GLK License Plate Camera works great

Installation Process Overview:

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal
  2. Remove the factory radio trim panel (typically 4 plastic clips and 2 screws)
