2018 Silverado AFM/DOD Delete

I will be deleting the AFM system on my 2018 Silverado. It is definitely the 5.3L. I have several questions that I cant seem to answer. One being is my engine the L83 and if so why do none of the delete kits come with the valley cover? Is this necessary to have or is blocking off the oil ports sufficient enough?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there and thanks for posting!

Hopefully you can catch it before it leaves you stranded (which sounds like you are)!
We just did the BTR kit on my 2015 last year - it chose to misfire and #6 lifter wouldn’t come back up. Engine flush didn’t work either. That BTR Setup uses the original valley cover, and has oil gallery block off plugs. You’ll use a new valley cover gasket on it and the block off plugs and thats it.
With the design of the factory L83 intake you can hardly see the cover on it, unlike the Gen3/4 where you can use a TBSS or truck intake and still see the valley cover.
I’ve linked the kit below, you’ll likely want HPTuners or a remote tune from a reputable tuner.

This is what mine sounded like with the BTR Stage 2 cam, upgraded springs, true duals with straight through Xlerator mufflers. I’m sure you’ll like the sound if you opt for a cam! I wouldn’t go any higher than stage 2 if keeping factory converter though!

Don’t overthink the valley cover—the L83 intake hides it anyway. Really it just comes down to making sure those gallery plugs seal properly.
