Understanding Tire Fitment on Classic C10
The 1947–1972 C10 has relatively tight fender wells, especially in the front. On a stock-height truck, a 235/75R15 is the common factory-size replacement. But on a dropped truck, you need a shorter, wider tire that won’t rub.
Common Lowered C10 Tire Sizes:

Key Fitment Rules:
- Check fender-to-tire gap – Measure before committing to a tire size
- Wheel offset matters – A 0 offset wheel will push the tire outward, closer to the fender lip
- Wheel backspace – Deeper backspace moves the tire inward, away from the fender
- Watch inner clearance – On front wheels, the tire must clear the lower control arm at full lock
Rolling the Fender Lips
Many C10 owners gently roll the inner fender lips to gain 0.5–1" of additional clearance. This allows wider tires without rubbing on tight suspension travel.
