Hey everyone! I’m excited to share my project with you all. I recently picked up a 1955 Chevy 3100 and I’m doing a full frame-off restoration. I’ve stripped it down to the frame, sandblasted and painted everything, and I’m starting to put it back together. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Engine & Drivetrain: Swapping in a rebuilt small-block 350 with a mild cam and a TH350 automatic. New wiring harness, HEI distributor, and a Holley Sniper EFI kit.
- Suspension & Brakes: Updated to Mustang II front suspension with disc brakes and power steering. Out back I’m using a 10-bolt with new leaf springs and shocks. Dropped the ride height 3" all around.
- Body & Interior: Repaired the typical cab corners and floor pans. The bed wood was shot, so I installed new oak boards with stainless strips. Inside I’ll be keeping it simple with a bench seat, tilt column, and new gauges.
- Paint & Wheels: Still deciding on colors (leaning towards a two-tone turquoise and white). Wheels will be 17" rallyes with 255/60 tires.
- To-do: Plumbing the brakes and fuel lines, wiring, painting the body, and final assembly.
Does anyone have tips on aligning the front sheet metal on these trucks? Also curious about recommendations for headliner options and sound deadening. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s builds!
